About the studio

Built by a parent,
for parents.

I'm a parent of a 4-year-old, and I couldn't find a phonics app I was comfortable handing to my child. Every option felt designed to maximize screen time, not learning outcomes.

So I built one. Artful Roots Co. is a one-person studio making technology that earns a place in your child's hands. We believe that calm, focused tools produce better learners than anything with a leaderboard.

Our approach is grounded in the Science of Reading — phonics-first, systematic, and built for the way young children actually learn.

Every decision in Clean Reader - Learn to Read was made by asking: does this help the child learn, or does it help the app retain them? These are our four commitments.

A warm, minimalist aesthetic inspired by Montessori materials. Cream backgrounds. Charcoal text. Large, purposeful touch targets. Nothing competes with the content.
